Tomato relish made with fresh home-grown tomatoes....
......fresh bell peppers, hot peppers, and onions.
I love summer-time!
Thanks again Monica for your recipe.
;- ))
If you can start with fresh tomatoes....
12-14.
Boil pan of water. Remove from heat. Place tomatoes in water. Cover until skins start to crack. Drain.
Peel.
While tomatoes are cooling, chop 5 onions, 4 bell peppers. (2 reds, 2 greens)
2 or more hot peppers.
Chop tomatoes in large pot...
add to chopped tomatoes:
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 tablespoon cinnamon
2 cups sugar
1 tablespoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups vinegar
1/2 cup white Karo Syrup
Seal in hot jars.
12-14 large tomatoes, chopped
5 onions, chopped
4 bell peppers, chopped (2 red, 2 green)
2 or more hot peppers, chopped
Add:
2 cups vinegar
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 tablespoon cinnamon
2 cups sugar
1/2 cups white Karo Syrup
1 tablespoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
Cook until thick. Seal in hot jars.

This looks so yummy! Could you please explain the "seal in hot jars" part? Should I have paid closer attention when my mom was canning?

Looks good Tina, my daughter just made a lot of that. They ended up with too many
tomatoes in their garden and the funny
thing is none of them eat tomatoes, but
will eat the salsa.
Did you get your felt cutouts for your flowers on your wreath from the Container
Store. My friend got some from there and it would be so easy to make those flowers for a wreath. They are felt cutouts that go in between your china.

Hi Tina!! I usually just make salsa in the summer with all my tomatoes. I have never made tomato relish. Could you please tell me what you would put the relish on? I am thinking maybe peas???? Thank you Tina!! By the way Tina...do you have a booth at Canton?..I would love to drop by and say Hi if I decide to brave the heat this weekend. =)

Sounds like we all need a canning lesson. I wish my mom or grandmom were still alive so I could get some lessons.
