...easy and delicious.
Grandmother's Pound Cake~
1 c. butter, softened
1 2/3 c. sugar
5 eggs
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 c. all-purpose flour
Beat butter until creamy. Blend in sugar, eggs and vanilla. Gradually mix in flour; pour into a greased and floured 9"x5" loaf pan. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 1/2 hours.

Oh Tina,
I found this exact recipe in my great aunt's things except for the vanilla. I use it all the time and add vanilla to it too. How fun. I always think of it as my grandmother's grandmother's pound cake recipe. My grandmother was a fabulous cook and she always let me pull up a chair to the counter to help. Wonderful memories!

I'm a grandmother (53 years old with 3 grand-kids!)....I use MY grandma's poundcake recipe all the time. Mine is very similar:
Heidi's Pound Cake
1 c. butter, 2 c. sugar, 2 1/4 c. flour, 6 eggs, 1 tsp. vanilla, dash of salt. (Bake 1 hours and 20 mins in greased loaf pan). SO GOOD with berries from my garden!
Oh and WHIPPED CREAM!

Sounds delicious Tina. My mom has a similar one, but calls for lemon extract, and is made for a bunt cake pan. I'm going to try this recipe for this weekend of your's and add strawberries over it. Now I'm hungry just thinking about it.

Hi,
I shared this recipe with my friend, and she asked me if it was true, only 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla? It seems so simple to make. Thanks for sharing.
