Looks like a real honey of an appliance.

I remember these! Yours looks brand new! How marvelous for you! Now what are you going to do with all of that cheese? :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Maureen

My mom had something like that. On Thanksgiving, I would watch her grind up the giblets with it. I couldn't take my eyes off of it. What can I say, I was a simple child and we didn't have cable. :) Have fun with it :) Buy giblets :)

Mandi Pike

I love it!!! I've always said that if I could hire someone to do something it would be to grate cheese (and chop onions but that is another story)!!! I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for one.

We used something similar for Thanksgiving too, I seem to remember grinding the cranberries and orange peel for cranberry relish...a fun memory though to this day I don't care for cranberry relish WITH oranges!

Nancy

That is the coolest thing! I may have to look into getting one!

Elsie Andrews

I don't even eat cheese and I would like to have one! That would come in handy. I may have to look for me one.
Thats a lota cheez makes a lot of pimineto chezzzzzzzzzzz Tina!!! Got Milk of Magnesia!!

Judy

That is really neat...I like those old gadgets that are hard to find anymore.

beth

Valery

My fabric Kleenex holders arrived yesterday! they really are well made.& oh so pretty! Love them!-Thanks so much-0oh & I LOVE the way you used the popcorn bag & checkered ribbon to put them in!Who made these? do you have many left? I think I should get some more of them as gifts!--Love,Valery

Susan

Sometimes the things our moms used were the best!

Marilyn

Tina,

I love it, too. It's truly a classic. I love the fact that it's hand cranked.

Cherry Hill Cottage is goin' green! :-)

Fun! My mom had one too. After she past away we found the shredder cones, but not the base. I couldn't bear to get rid of them and use the cones as a shade (open side up) for votive cups. Just be careful when you blow them out. The metal can still get hot...

Thanks for sharing.

I have my mom's and I love it!! The best!

You have a great blog~

Jennifer

I had no idea there was any other way to grate cheese until I was off on my own and couldn't find one of these in the store!

LaurieAnna

I have one of these too and love it!!! The electric ones just aren't the same!! LA

Margo

I make a lasagna from scratch and I have a similar tool that I use. it's not old thought, but there is nothing better for shredding cheese.

I've added your blog to the side bar of the new Our Little Corner blog
http://ourlittlecornernoonday.blogspot.com/
I figured you shopped there at some point. Stop by and see it sometime.

Margo

Penpen

I remember seeing one of these at my grandmother's house. I remember seeing her putting chicken through it to make chicken salad.

LINDA

I bet that would look great in the kitchen at your dream farmhouse. Cheese that you grate yourself is so much better than the packaged grated cheese at the store.

Theresa@TakeASentimental Journey

Hi Tina,My grandmother had one of those and we wanted to play with it all the time and of course she wouldn't let us ! I don't know why she thought we would grind our fingers up ! LOL
I am on a quest for one now !

Debbie Hooper

Boy could I use one of these- esp. around Thanksgiving! I Want one!

Amy R.

I have one of these too! It does work great. I should use mine more! Thanks for sharing

That cheese looks wonderful!

That looks like a very good piece of kitchen equipment...you can't beat the older things, they're just made better! Now all we need is the recipe for that cheese spread! It looks wonderful!

Mary

Bette

I bought one new in 1989, and it IS wonderful, and easy to clean. Havent used it in a while, since I keep buying bags of shredded cheese (not as good, I know I know) It looks like you are missing the finger guard, a white plastic thing that slides over the top. Mine is called a Saladmaster, but it looks identical. I also have the BEST pair of scissors, also from Saladmaster.

Cindy

I think my mom had one of those. Hugs, Cindy S.
