Thank you Elsie, I love my rick-rack garland. I received a package last week from Elsie of Louisiana. It's the red rick-rack garland draped on the Hoosier. Elsie attached little yo's-yo's to it, in red and white checks, polka dots and red and white fabrics. It's so stinkin' cute! I know for sure...I'll be using it all year. It won't be packed away in the "Christmas decoration box"...
That jar, with the red and white ribbon, is the "Jalapeno Pepper Jelly" Sharon from Buffalo, Texas gave me. It's so cute...I just can't eat it!!

Our tree looks very much the same as last years tree~ I'm stuck on the red and white tulips, this is the third year I've adorn the tree with them. I'm thinking red and white carnations for 09's tree. Carnations would give the tree a cute ruffled look.
I did a few things different~ I added the red umbrella for our tree topper. Amy's cute cherry stockings. Added more embroidery hoops with the vintage Christmas tablecloths. I added a new red and green polka dot ribbon. And added red JUMBO rick rack.
We put the Christmas tree in a huge white flowerpot. Milton just took the tree stand off and sit the tree right in the pot~ it needed nothing to secure it.
Remember Santa? I bought him at Wal-Mart last year. He wanted to sit in the same place as last year....
And I placed my white Christmas owl in the tree. I bought him at LaurieAnna's last year.
When I was young, the gumdrop tree was always a Christmas tradition~ it brings back wonderful memories.

I'm overwhelmed with all my "HAPPY BIRTHDAY WISHES"...I have 140 wishes in my "80th Birthday Jar" to read. The ones I've read so far, were so sweet and heartwarming. Just to think, each one of you took the time to write ME a special little note on my 80th Birthday speaks volumes on what kind of person each and every one of YOU are. I wish I could thank EVERYONE OF YOU PERSONALLY!
I'll enjoy my "jar" forever!

We'll celebrate our Mother's 80th birthday at her favorite restaurant~ The Olive Garden. It will be an intimate family dinner with her children and grandchildren. We'll have cake and gifts.
If you choose to leave a comment to our Mom wishing her a Happy Birthday~ it will be so appreciated!! I plan to print every comment and put them in a "80th BIRTHDAY JAR"...It will be fun for Mother to read "out-loud" all her HAPPY BIRTHDAY WISHES!! She'll just LOVE IT!
Mother has four children, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She loves us all~ we love you Mom.

I found this wonderful vintage Santa Christmas door cover on Ebay last week~ there was one bid on it. I put a "watch" on it, then started watching it like a HAWK!
I WON!!
I won it for Mika and David's front door apartment entrance. Their apartment complex is having a CHRISTMAS DECORATING contest. First place winners will be able to deduct $100 from their apartment rent. That's a good thing!
This is Mika and David's front door. I LOVE THAT SANTA! (I really wanted to keep him) With Santa on the door, their address # was covered, so we thought we needed to show it in some way~ Mika wrapped boxes with her pretty gift paper, then cut out their address #'s and glued them on the boxes. She attached all of them with ribbon, and hung them on the wall. Now their address shows, the UPS man will be happy!
We went with large multi-colored bulbs for that authentic, vintage look~ I don't think anything else would do with Santa...
Mika and David live on the second floor of their complex~ we decided to hang the green Christmas garland at the bottom of the rail in front of the porch/door. If we had put it on the top, you couldn't see Santa's face. ; - 0
We also wrapped little packages and made a "package garland". We hung it with the green garland. Dotted all that with little white snow flakes.
We decorated a 6' lighted pencil tree very simply with red ribbon streamers and white snow flakes. Then surrounded the tree with big packages.
The CHRISTMAS DECORATING contest will be judge and announced on the 23rd.

making Christmas memories..
I received a short sweet email the other day, in the subject line it read~ JUST FOR CHERRY HILL COTTAGE. OK...I got excited. I clicked on the email and started reading. It was from Valarie who lives in McKinney, Texas. Valarie wrote that she saw this picture at an estate sale and immediately thought of me and my Cherry Hill Cottage. Valarie said, "if you love it, send me your address and I'll mail it to ya!"
I thought...ARE YOU KIDDING??? I LOVE IT!
I'm all misty-eyed Valarie! I love it beyond words, it's beautiful!
I love every image in the picture~ the white ironstone platter, the blue creamer, the crock, and that little ironstone bowl of cherries!
