Raisin Pie~
This ain't my mama's raisin pie! It's Margie's recipe. Mother's raisin pie's are so pretty! This pie I made is really ugly~ there's no way I'm showing the whole pie... But, it taste so darn good...even if you aren't a "raisin" fan...you'll like this pie recipe~ I PROMISE! I need to work on my top crust skills... = )
In a sauce pan add 1 box raisins...
1 cup sugar...
1 tablespoon vinegar. Cook in water until raisins are tender.
Mix~
1 cup sugar
5 or 6 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Mix and add to raisins...
Cook slow until mixture thickens. Doesn't take long.
Pour into un-baked pie crust. Add pads of butter over pie. I know, I know~ to many butter pads ; - ) I like butter!
Add top crust...
Bake @ 425 30 minutes or longer. Or until golden brown...
Raisin Pie~

Pie Crust~
3 1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups vegetable shortening
4 to 5 tablespoons ice water
Combine the flour and salt in a bowl. Add the shortening and work it in with your hands until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add the water, 1 tablespoon at a time, working it in with your hands. Add only as much as you need to make a smooth ball of dough. Wrap it in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. Remove the dough from the refrigerator and place it on a lightly floured surface. For 2 crusts, cut the dough in two and put the second half back in the refrigerator. For each crust, roll the dough out on the floured surface into a circle about 12 inches in diameter and 1/8-inch thick. Gently fold the circle of dough in half again so that you can lift it without tearing it, and unfold into a 9-inch pie pan.

Doesn't look like too many butter pats to me! I say you get points for even attempting a pie crust from scratch - I get help from the dough boy!

What's a homemade pie crust?????? ;-)
I've got my family thinking that Pillsbury has the monopoly on pie crusts, and the only way to get one is to visit the refrigerated/freezer aisle in the supermarket!
But, seriously, the pie looks yummy.

Tina,
I have never made or eaten a Raisin Pie. I actually think yours is the first one I have ever seen. It looks delicious!
I have just inherited some of my Grandmother's Recipe Books and I was looking through them just a couple of days ago. I noticed she had made comments on several Raisin Pie Recipes and also had added some more R P Recipes, she had cut out to save, to those pages. I was just thinking I needed to try one.
Yours looks YUMMY! I will give it a try.
Thanks!
Donna

I love raisin pie, and it absolutely doesn't matter how it looks.
My best friend makes sour cream raisin pie that is delicious. Have you had that kind?

Well, of course you can "like" butter. You're a skinny girl! I've never had raisin pie, now that I think of it. But that one does look awfully good. May have to try it.

OH MY GOODNESS!
I haven't had a raisin pie in so long! My mouth is watering. It's my daddy's favorite, so every Aug.20 -his b-day- my mom would fix one.
I must try one myself.
I love your site by the way!

This pie looks so yummy I want to make it now!! When you say 1 box of raisins, what size is it? I am from Canada and they don't sell them in boxes. Thanks for the info and I look forward to baking this gem!

Tina,
It's Friday evening at 9:35. I just wanted to check on you....I heard that the tornadoes went through Canton but I didn't know if you were there now or not.
I live in Arkansas. We were very blessed to have not had any loss or damage where I live. Others around us have though. Hope all is well.
Take care,
Tasha
