Raisin Pie~

Raisin_pie

This ain't my mama's raisin pie! It's Margie's recipe. Mother's raisin pie's are so pretty! This pie I made is really ugly~ there's no way I'm showing the whole pie...    But, it taste so darn good...even if you aren't a "raisin" fan...you'll like this pie recipe~ I PROMISE! Raisin Pie~

1 box raisins

1 cup sugar

1 tablespoon vinegar

Cook in water until raisins are tender.

Mix~

1 cup sugar

5 or 6 tablespoon flour

1/2 teaspoon allspice

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1 teaspoon cinnamon

Mix and add to raisins and cook slow until mixture thickens. Pour into un-baked pie crust. Add pads of butter over pie. Add top crust. Bake @ 425 30 minutes or longer. Or until golden brown.

Pie Crust~

3 1/4 cups flour

1 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 cups vegetable shortening

4 to 5 tablespoons ice water

Combine the flour and salt in a bowl. Add the shortening and work it in with your hands until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add the water, 1 tablespoon at a time, working it in with your hands. Add only as much as you need to make a smooth ball of dough. Wrap it in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. Remove the dough from the refrigerator and place it on a lightly floured surface. For 2 crusts, cut the dough in two and put the second half back in the refrigerator. For each crust, roll the dough out on the floured surface into a circle about 12 inches in diameter and 1/8-inch thick. Gently fold the circle of dough in half again so that you can lift it without tearing it, and unfold into a 9-inch pie pan.

I love to be able to go outside and pick fern fronds from my flower bed~ their little spores are reproducing fast and furious~ This long neck bottle/vase is perfect for a couple of fern fronds. I bought the vase at LaurieAnna's Vintage Home...
