I bought this lamp at Goodwill for $5. ~ It had a lampshade that I for sure didn't want...I left it there. So I am now in need of a lampshade. Lampshades are hard to find..pretty one's. Cottagey one's. Vintage one's...My friend Monica and I are always looking for old lampshades...Does anyone out there make lampshades? I know what I want~ I want one made out of a vintage white linen tablecloth. I will provide the tablecloth if someone will make it for me. The Lord above didn't bless me with the talent for sewing...so I have to depend on someone to create from the sewing machine for me. My lamp is 15" from the light bulb to the bottom of the base. And, I won that toleware tray on Ebay~ I had that tray before I found the lamp~ look how great they look together. The dresser scarf~ my Mom embroidered it when she was a young bride.
Thanks Valery~ my friend Valery from Nevada found this darling framed print on Ebay...she wanted me to *see* it so she emailed it to me. I LOVE HER! AND I LOVE VALERY! Valery is sweet that way...always thinking of others...I placed a bid and I WON! So what do you think Valery? I painted the frame white. The frame was gold...now it's cottage white. I think the white paint makes those little flower cravings on the frame stand out so much more...A darling little girl with a basket of red cherries...a perfect addition to Cherry Hill Cottage.
Here is a laundry tip~ now everyone might already know about it and I'm the last to know...but I'll share anyway. Last month when I was at Canton I always buy from these two guys with tables over flowing, piled high with vintage linens. I could spend hours digging...I absolutely love going there. "The guy" was telling "us girls" as we were digging a tip to remove stains from linens...it's this laundry bar soap~ FELS-NAPTHA. He said it works like a charm! I haven't used it yet, I just bought mine~ our stores don't sell it. You can purchase it at Tom Thumb Grocery Stores. This past weekend we took a day trip to the Dallas area~ we took my Mother to her friends 60th wedding anniversary. But, all I could think about was SOAP! And getting to a TT's. As you can see...I bought my soap, I'm happy now! (It doesn't take much to make me happy) It's got great packaging, a vintage look. And smells good too!
He said...to get the bar nice and wet~ make a good lather. Wet stain with water. Work Fels-Naphta soap into stained area. Let it set for a minute or two...then wash.
I bought this cute bowl at Canton Trades Day last month~ what caught my eye was the little red and white checks on the right hand corner, and of course the red and yellow flowers. I could just see a pudding in it. So...that is what I made~ If you haven't ever had a Lorna Doone Cookie Pudding before please try it~ it's yummy! I'm a Lorna Doone cookie lover anyway...I always have them to snack on. They are a great little shortbread cookie. Plus, they are just plain cute! They have that old-fashion look to them...This cookie and this pudding are great with a cup of ...what else? A cup of COFFEE!
lORNA DOONE SPOON PUDDING
1 3/4 cups cold milk
1 pkg. (4-serving size) Jello Chocolate Flavor Instant Pudding & Pie Filling
24 Lorna Doone Shortbread Cookies
1 large banana, sliced
2 cups thawed Cool Whip
Pour milk into large bowl. Add pudding mix. Beat with wire whisk 2 minutes or until well blended. Let stand 5 minutes. Arrange 1/2 of the cookies on bottom and sides of the 1-1/2 quart serving bowl; cover with layers of 1/2 each of the pudding, bananas, and whipped topping. Repeat layers. Refrigerate at least 3 hours or until ready to serve. Makes 8 servings.
S-U-M-M-E-R this is the first full day of summer~ and to help mark this glorious occasion I thought this would be a great day to share Mika's summer banner~ Nothing says summer like...a beach ball and an umbrella, the big beautiful sun, a picnic basket, a hotdog, the Gerber daisy, and a ice cream cone. Thanks Mika for my banner...I just love it, every time I walk past it I : ) and think about you!
Mika is banner making again~ I love this 4th of July banner! Very patriotic darling daughter of mine... Stars, a bunting flag, Uncle Sam, a cherry pie, a firecracker, and a yellow ribbon~ we can't forget our troops! Now, this banner is cute, but you should see her summer banner! Oh, cutecutecute!! Mika has already sold four of her summer creations. Thank you Monica! Here is a reminder of Mika's first cute little banner! I'll be posting a picture of Mika's Summer Banner later this week~ she will have several ready to pop in the mail to anyone interested in stinging one up anywhere you want to add that special touch to help you celebrate the upcoming summer season!
